Peninsular River System or Peninsular Drainage
Peninsular rivers are quite old from the Himalayan rivers
Peninsular drainage is mainly equivalent, except for some rivers in the upper peninsular region. They are non-perennial rivers with maximum discharge in rainy season.
Peninsular rivers have reached mature stage (fluvial landform) and have almost reached their base level. [Vertical downing is negligible].
The rivers are painted by broad and shallow valleys.
In the banks of the river there are gentle slopes in addition to a limited route, where the standing sides make a mistake. In the Peninsular Rivers, main water distribution is made by Western Ghats, which runs from north to south west side of the west coast.
The velocity of water and the ability to carry loads of currents in rivers is less due to the low shield.
Most of the major rivers of Mahanadi such as Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri flows east and flow in the Bay of Bengal. These rivers make delta on their mouths.
But in the place of Narmada and Tapi's west flowing rivers, along with the Western Ghats, and in the Arabian Sea, they are estimated at the place of the delta.
There are some places where the rivers make exaggerated and rejuvenated drainage which are represented
Examples: Jog (289 meters) on Sharawati, Yenna (183 meters) of Mahabaleshwar, Shivasamuram (101 meters) at Kaveri, Gokak (55 meters), Kapiladhar (23 meters) and Dhundar (15 meters) at Gokak Peninsular India Narmada There are major waterfalls.
